Pharmaceutical Scientific Association Podcast: A Mother’s Journey
with Her Child with Autism Spectrum Disorder

As part of its mission to provide meaningful, awareness-driven content, the PSA,
through its Training Committee, released the second episode of the PSA Podcast
series on May 23. This episode carried an inspiring and deeply personal theme, entitled
“A Mother’s Journey with Her Wonderful Child Who Has Autism Spectrum Disorder
(ASD).” The episode featured Dr. Yomna El-Leithy, one of the faculty’s staff, who
courageously shared her experiences as a mother navigating the realities of raising a
child with ASD. Through her testimony, she provided valuable lessons of perseverance,
love, and resilience for parents, educators, and students alike. Episode Highlighted the
parent-child relationship after diagnosis, moments of pride in her child’s achievements,
advice for parents, and finding balance and overcoming challenges.

The episode was hosted by Sama Raafat and
Eman Fouda, who created a warm and
empathetic space for discussion. Their
thoughtful moderation allowed Dr. El-
Leithy’s story to be shared authentically,
while making the episode relatable and
inspiring for listeners. This episode provided
not only an inspiring mother’s testimony but
also a broader message of resilience,
empathy, and advocacy for children with
ASD. It demonstrated PSA’s commitment to
raising awareness on important social and
health issues, offering a platform that
connects knowledge with lived experiences,
and reminding students and the community
of the power of compassion and perseverance
in facing life’s challenges.
