Co-curricular Student Activities

Physiology and Pathophysiology Course – Level 2

“Awareness Day on Rare Diseases: Empowering Students as Health

                                                      Advocates”

Second-year students organized an awareness event for rare diseases, presenting scientific posters,
brochures, and infographics as part of their “Physiology and Pathophysiology” coursework.

              Expanded Educational Impact:

              • By addressing rare diseases that receive less
awareness and attention in mainstream curricula and
research funding, students developed empathy and a
deeper appreciation for the equity challenges in
                 global healthcare.
              • The event encouraged students to think about the
role of pharmacists not only as dispensers of
medication but also as community educators and
                 patient advocates.
              • Students practiced designing educational materials
based on accurate data, effective visuals, and sound
messaging strategies, which are directly applicable
to clinical pharmacy practice and global health campaigns.
              • Presenting scientific material in public spaces strengthened student confidence and
communication skills. Faculty members praised the initiative as informative even for academic
staff, showing its educational reach across levels.

This project enhances student readiness for careers in public health pharmacy, rare disease policy,
pharmaceutical outreach programs, and healthcare communication strategies.
