Chapter I

Medical Terminology Course – Level 1
“Interactive Medical Terminology Website: From Passive Learning to Digital

                                                    Health Education”

First-year students transformed the traditionally lecture-based “Medical Terminology” course by
building an interactive online platform composed of modular micro-sites. These covered
anatomical systems, diseases, medical procedures, and treatment terminology.

               Expanded Educational Impact:

               • Transition from Theoretical to Applied Learning: Rather than rote memorization, students
actively applied terms in real clinical and diagnostic contexts, resulting in deeper understanding
                   and better long-term retention.
               • Digital Content Creation Skills: The technical aspect of website design introduced students to
user interface (UI), user experience (UX), digital communication, and online educational
design—valuable assets in the evolving world of digital health.
               • Health Literacy and Public Communication: By simplifying complex terminology into
accessible educational modules, students learned to translate medical jargon into lay-friendly
language, a core skill in both patient counseling and health promotion.
               • Motivational Boost: Receiving praise from university leadership and national media (El Watan
newspaper) boosted student morale and created a sense of ownership and pride in their work.

This project prepares students for roles in e-health, pharmaceutical education, digital therapeutics,
and global health communication. It also fosters adaptability to online learning environments, which
are becoming integral to continuing medical education.
