Hospital Pharmacy Simulation
“Compounding Sterile Preparation: Garbing and Aseptic Techniques”
As part of the Faculty of Pharmacy’s ongoing
commitment to advancing experiential learning and
integrating practical applications into the academic
curriculum, third-year students enrolled in the
“Hospital Pharmacy” course under the supervision of
Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice Department’s
staff participated in a structured simulation of core
hospital procedures. This educational activity
specifically focused on the preparation of sterile
solutions and pharmaceutical formulations—key
responsibilities in hospital pharmacy practice.
It was designed to mirror real-world hospital workflows,
providing students with a hands-on experience that
bridged theoretical knowledge with practical skills.
Through this exercise, students became familiar with
aseptic techniques, the use of laminar airflow cabinets,
appropriate gowning procedures, and the stringent
safety and quality assurance measures involved in
compounding sterile preparations.
By engaging in this realistic training environment,
students not only strengthened their technical
competencies but also developed a deeper appreciation
for the role of hospital pharmacists in ensuring patient
safety and the accuracy of medication delivery. This
initiative reflects the faculty’s dedication to preparing
students for the practical challenges of professional
pharmacy practice and enhancing their readiness for
future clinical roles.
