Pharmacology 2 Course – Level 3
“Pharmacology Flashcards: From Theory to Applied Learning”
In alignment with Mansoura National University’s strategy to promote active and applied
learning, second-year students of the Pharmacology Department participated in a practical
activity within the Pharmacology 2 course. This initiative introduced students to the design of
pharmacology flashcards, encouraging them to translate theoretical knowledge about drugs into
concise, visual, and applicable tools for both academic and community use.
The primary objective was to enhance students’ ability to memorize, categorize, and communicate
drug-related information while fostering creativity, teamwork, and professional skills relevant to
pharmacy practice.
Project Objectives
• Pharmacological Knowledge Development: Help students memorize and categorize
drugs into their classes, understand mechanisms of action, and identify drugs of choice for
clinical conditions.
• Clinical Application: Familiarize students with therapeutic uses, side effects,
contraindications, and patient counseling points.
• Creativity & Innovation: Encourage students to design new conceptual drugs that address
limitations of existing therapies.
• Presentation & Communication Skills: Train students to explain pharmacological
concepts clearly using flashcards, diagrams, and visual elements.
• Collaboration & Leadership: Promote teamwork and project management by
coordinating efforts within student groups.
• Community Engagement: Highlight the role of pharmacists in healthcare by extending
knowledge to peers, schools, and local organizations.
Project Implementation
• Student Grouping: Students were divided into groups of five, with each group selecting
a drug class.
• Flashcard Design:
o Front: Class, generic and trade names, indications (highlighting if the drug is the
drug of choice), and advantages/disadvantages.
