Faculty of Pharmacy Organizes Educational Competition to Promote
Active Learning
In pursuit of its mission to enhance student engagement and embed active learning strategies into
the educational process, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Mansoura National University organized an
innovative educational competition for second-year students enrolled in the General Microbiology
and Immunology course. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Cherif Khater,
University President, and the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Ahmed El-Sheakh, Director of Pharm D
(Clinical Pharmacy) Program. Supervision was provided by Prof. Rasha Baroua and Prof. Dina
Eid, the course instructors. The competition featured a series of interactive scientific challenges
designed to reinforce core course concepts in an engaging and practical way. Activities included:
• Interactive Q&A Challenge – student teams designed and exchanged scientific questions,
stimulating research skills and critical thinking.
• Bacterial Model Assembly – teams competed to accurately construct bacterial cell
models, providing a hands-on understanding of microbial structures.
• Scientific Image Analysis – students analyzed microbiological images, linking them to
theoretical concepts and enhancing their analytical reasoning.
This dynamic educational activity enabled students to bridge theory with practice, sharpen their
teamwork and problem-solving abilities, and experience learning in a collaborative, competitive
environment. Beyond strengthening scientific knowledge, the competition also reflected the
faculty’s vision of preparing professionally competent graduates capable of contributing to
research, healthcare, and the pharmaceutical industry.
