Pharmaceutical Dosage Form I Course – Level 2

                                    “A Journey to Pharmaceutical Preparations”

This activity involves hands-on experience in the formulation of liquid preparations like solutions,
suspensions, and emulsions. The students have been engaged in learning about different

pharmaceutical ingredients and how to be used in formulating common pharmaceutical and personal

care products. The activity included theoretical learning sessions, practical laboratory work, and
group discussions to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.

              Project Stages:

              1. Theoretical Learning: Students attended lectures covering the basics of pharmaceutical
formulation, the properties of various ingredients, and the role of each ingredient in liquid
preparations like solutions, suspensions, and emulsions.
              2. Documentation & Reporting: Each group selected certain drug. Then, they documented the
appropriate method of preparing the active ingredient, the suitable pharmaceutical inactive
ingredients for preparing the liquid preparation, choose suitable name for their product and
similarities in market in a laboratory report.
              3. Laboratory Work: In the laboratory and under the supervision of instructors, students followed
detailed steps to formulate their own samples of solutions, suspensions, and emulsions. They
used balance and other equipment for weighing, mixing and formulating the pharmaceutical
ingredients into the desired liquid preparation.
              4. Group Discussions: Students participated in group discussions to share their findings, discussed
challenges faced during the formulation process, and they also compared their own formulations
with commercial products concerning physical appearance.
              5. Marketing: Each group made a Facebook page and used different ways for marketing the
products that had been prepared then shared the page in the activity Facebook group.

              Impact & Outcomes:

                                                     Timeframe: 11 weeks
