Students of the Faculty of Pharmacy Discover the Microscopic World in an
Applied Activity within College Labs

In line with the principle of integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application, the
Faculty of Pharmacy organized a hands-on scientific activity under the patronage of Prof. Cherif
Khater, University President, and the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Ahmed El-Sheakh, Director of
Pharm D (Clinical Pharmacy) Program. Second-year students participated in an applied session
within the framework of the course General Microbiology and Immunology. The activity was
conducted under the supervision of Prof. Rasha Barwa and Prof. Dina Eid, with the participation
of Dr. Omniah Tawfiq, Dr. Samaa Sameh, Dr. Yasmin Abed, Dr. Mohammed Zeidan, and
Dr. Ahmed Essam. This session unfolded in three interactive stages designed to bridge classroom
knowledge with laboratory practice:

• Stage One – Sample Collection: Students
collected microbial samples from their daily
environment, including laboratory surfaces,
microphones, windows, handles, water taps, fans,
fire extinguishers, and soil. Samples were also
obtained from personal items such as mobile
phones, watches, glasses, headphones, cash, as
well as from hands, face, and teeth.
