Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry 2 Course- level 1

Virtual-Lab based Case Study: Analysis of Iron in Dietary Supplement
                                                          Tablets

The Faculty of Pharmacy, Mansoura National University, continued to pioneer innovative
educational strategies by integrating virtual laboratory experiences into its curriculum. As part of
the Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry 2 (PC 203) course, the department introduced a unique
activity. This activity leveraged the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Virtual Laboratory platform
(https://virtual.edu.rsc.org), providing students with a dynamic and interactive environment to
simulate real-world pharmaceutical analytical procedures. The project was designed to bridge the
gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, ensuring students gain hands-on
               experience in a virtual setting.

Students were tasked with solving a pharmaceutical analytical problem — verifying whether
dietary supplement tablets contain the correct amount of iron. The experiment involved a titration
process using a standard potassium permanganate solution, a fundamental analytical technique
               in pharmaceutical quality control.

The activity encouraged self-paced learning, allowing students to develop critical thinking and
analytical problem-solving skills in a controlled digital environment.
