Social Issues Course - Level 1
“Social Challenges Capstone Project”
The activity was designed to enhance students’ research and analytical skills while raising their
awareness of societal challenges. Students were grouped into teams of ten and tasked with executing
four major applied projects, each focused on analyzing a significant societal, economic, or cultural
issue and devising innovative solutions through research and collaborative work.
Project Themes & Activities:
1. National Mega-Projects: Students studied one major national initiative, detailing its purpose,
implementation stages, stakeholder roles, economic and social impact, encountered challenges,
and proposed solutions. They produced a report and video presentation explaining the project’s
significance and future relevance.
2. Cultural Diversity: Each group researched a chosen country’s cultural diversity—examining its
customs, language, arts, and subcultures—highlighting interaction strategies and challenges. The
outcome was a creative report and video uncovering their key insights.
3. Entrepreneurship & Business Model Canvas (BMC): Students developed a startup concept to
solve a real-world problem using the BMC framework. They defined target users, value
proposition, distribution channels, revenue streams, operating costs, and required resources, added
to emphasizing innovation, sustainability, and contribution to the green economy.
4. Environmental Sustainability Awareness: This project centered on sustainable development—
students researched renewable energy, waste reduction, and resource conservation. They proposed
practical green initiatives aimed at minimizing environmental impact, and delivered their ideas
through engaging videos and written reports.
