Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry I Course – Level 1
“Integrated Analytical Chemistry Learning Activity: Bridging Theory with
Practice”
As part of its commitment to interactive and career-oriented education, the Faculty of Pharmacy at
Mansoura National University launched a comprehensive educational initiative within the
Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry I course. This inclusive activity was designed to simulate
real-world pharmaceutical environments, encouraging students to explore and present in-depth
information about various chemical substances and drugs through multi-modal learning
experiences. This activity demonstrated a transformative shift from passive learning to active
engagement, empowering students with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to contribute
meaningfully to future pharmaceutical practice.
First Phase: Students were divided into groups and assigned different pharmaceutical compounds
or active ingredients. Each group conducted scientific research using reliable sources to gather
detailed information on the chemical, physical, pharmacological, and analytical properties of their
assigned substances. The findings were compiled into pharmacopoeial-style monographs and
presented as scientific posters. To strengthen professional communication, students also developed
PowerPoint presentations and informative brochures to raise peer awareness.
Second Phase: Students organized a campus-wide awareness campaign, where they presented their
work interactively and distributed educational materials to their peers. It was documented through
engaging video content and shared on platforms such as Facebook and YouTube, reflecting the
students’ ability to creatively convey scientific content and enhance public understanding.
To Further Support This Initiative: The students launched a website, Wikipedia Analytical MNU,
where they published interactive pages about the studied compounds, including usage, dosage forms,
structure, and analytical techniques.
This Multifaceted Project Achieved Several Educational Goals:
• Strengthened students’ scientific research skills through guided exploration of pharmaceutical
databases.
• Developed information organization and communication skills via professional-style posters,
presentations, and monographs.
• Encouraged public speaking and confidence-building through student-led awareness events.
• Fostered collaboration, creativity, and innovation, with students designing customized
educational materials.
• Linked academic content with real-world pharmaceutical applications, enhancing readiness for
industry roles.
• Promoted digital literacy and use of educational technology through interactive online platforms.
