                                           Hospital Accreditation by GAHAR

In line with Mansoura National University’s
               commitment to preparing future healthcare
professionals and raising awareness of national
healthcare standards, the Faculty of Pharmacy
held a scientific day on Wednesday, October 9,
focusing on the role of pharmacists in hospital
accreditation by the General Authority for
               Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation
(GAHAR). The event was held under the
patronage of Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater,
University President, and the leadership of
Assoc. Prof. Ahmed El-Sheikh, Director of the
               PharmD (Clinical Pharmacy) Program, with
academic supervision by Dr. Basant Maher and
Dr. Reem Abou El-Ezz, staff at the Clinical
               Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice Department.

The event targeted third-year students, emphasizing the pharmacist’s pivotal role in advancing
healthcare quality through compliance with accreditation standards. Dr. Ahmed El-Manzalawy, a
consultant in healthcare quality and accreditation, delivered a lecture outlining the significance of
hospital accreditation and interpreting core GAHAR standards. He also highlighted how
pharmacists contribute to improving therapeutic outcomes by implementing quality practices.
Additionally, the Clinical Pharmacy Department provided a comprehensive briefing on the
practical training component of the Hospital Pharmacy course. This included details on simulation-
based exercises, the course’s final project, and the student assessment framework, which
incorporates evaluations from field visits to accredited and non-accredited hospitals. The event
served as an essential academic experience, bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world
healthcare practices and reinforcing the future role of pharmacy students in Egypt’s evolving
               healthcare system.
