Pharmacy Scientific Association Students Lead Awareness Efforts During
                                       Global Constipation Awareness Month

Global Constipation Awareness Month, observed every December, aims to raise public awareness
about one of the most common yet often underestimated gastrointestinal conditions—constipation.
The campaign promotes understanding, early recognition, and effective prevention strategies to
improve digestive health and overall well-being. In support of this global health initiative, students
from the Pharmacy Scientific Association (PSA) at the Faculty of Pharmacy – Mansoura National
University produced an engaging educational video to educate their peers and the wider
community about constipation. This awareness activity was carried out under the patronage of
Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, University President, and the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Ahmed
El-Sheikh, Director of the PharmD (Clinical Pharmacy) Program, alongside Dr. Basant Maher,
               PSA coordinator.

The student-led video presented key information in a simplified and relatable format, covering the
common causes of constipation such as low fiber intake, poor hydration, lack of physical activity,
and delaying the urge to defecate. It also explained potential complications of chronic constipation,
including hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and abdominal discomfort. To promote preventive measures,
PSA students shared five practical health tips:

                   • Eat more fiber-rich foods (fruits, vegetables, whole grains).
                   • Drink sufficient water daily.

                   • Engage in regular physical activity.
                   • Respond promptly to natural bowel urges.
                   • Seek medical advice if symptoms persist.
